What is a holistic approach to birth?

A holistic approach to birth is about treating birth as a multi-dimensional experience. It considers the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being of both you and your baby during pregnancy and also the birthing process. It aims to enhance medical practices with alternative therapies such as relaxation techniques, aromatherapy, mindfulness, and movement to create a more comprehensive and personalised approach to birth. The goal is to support the natural process of birth while also addressing the overall health and well-being of the mother.

Through my Birth Preparation Workshops and Pregnancy Yoga Classes, I aim to support women on their journey to motherhood by addressing their:

  • physical health through movement and relaxation

  • emotional well-being by teaching stress reduction techniques

  • mental preparedness by providing information about birth options, pain management, and coping strategies

  • mindfulness practices and meditation which help to explore the spiritual aspects pregnancy and birth

  • the birth environment, learn ways to create a comfortable space to birth your baby

  • partner involvement, encourage your partner to be actively involved in the birth process

  • postpartum care, the holistic approach extends to postpartum care, offering support for physical recovery, emotional adjustment, and bonding is important.
